10 Smiles

I have been reading articles recently when I have been getting bored. I have read a lot of articles about expressions and I have found out that the best impression is not the first impression but a smile. It only doesn't help on your physical impression but it also helps you to be fit. So today I have decided to write an article about 10 reasons why we need to smile.

1. Manages Your Hormones:

Laughter (Smiling) reduces the level of stress hormones like cortisol and growth hormone. It also increases the level of health-enhancing hormones like endorphins and neurotransmitters. Laughter increases the number of antibody-producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of T cells. All this means a stronger immune system, as well as fewer physical effects of stress.

2. Nice Internal Workout:

A good belly laugh exercises the diaphragm, contracts the abs and even works out the shoulders, leaving muscles more relaxed afterward. It even provides a good workout for the heart.

3. Physical Release:

Have you ever felt like you “have to laugh or I’ll cry”? Have you experienced the cleansed feeling after a good laugh? Laughter provides a physical and emotional release.

4. Positive Frame Of Mind:

Laughter brings the focus away from anger, guilt, stress and negative emotions in a than other mere distractions. It will make you happy and put you in a positive frame of mind.

5. Change Your Perspective:

Studies show that our response to stressful events can be altered by whether we view something as a ‘threat’ or a ‘challenge’. Humor can give us a more lighthearted perspective and help us view events as ‘challenges’, thereby making them less threatening and more positive.

6. Social Benefits Of Laughter:

Laughter connects us with others. Also, laughter is contagious, so if you bring more laughter into your life, you can most likely help others around you to laugh more, and realize these benefits as well. By elevating the mood of those around you, you can reduce their stress levels, and perhaps improve the quality of social interaction you experience with them, reducing your stress level even more!

What’s even better is that the more you smile, the more others will too. Says psychologist Dr. David Lewis, “Seeing a smile creates what is termed as a ‘halo’ effect, helping us to remember other happy events more vividly, feel more optimistic, more positive and more motivated.”

7. Fight Illness Better:

People who are optimistic (and these are the people who are out there smiling!) have stronger immune systems and are actually able to fight off illness better than pessimists.

“The research is very clear,” says Christopher Peterson, Ph.D, a University of Michigan professor who’s been studying optimism’s link to health for over two decades, “This is not some social science generalization. There is a link between optimistic attitudes and good health. It has been measured in a variety of ways. Overall, we have found that optimistic people are healthier. Their biological makeup is different. They have a more robust immune system.”

8. Live Longer:

According to a study published in the November 2004 issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry, elderly optimistic people, those who expected good things to happen (rather than bad things), were less likely to die than pessimists.

In fact, among the 65- to 85-year-old study participants, those who were most optimistic were 55 percent less likely to die from all causes than the most pessimistic people. What’s more, after researchers adjusted the results for age, smoking status, alcohol consumption, physical activity and other measures of health, the optimists were 71 percent less likely to die than the pessimists!

9. It Feels Like Eating 2,000 Chocolate Bars

That’s right - according to The British Dental Health Foundation, a smile gives the same level of stimulation as eating 2,000 chocolate bars. The results were found after researchers measured brain and heart activity in volunteers as they were shown pictures of smiling people and given money and chocolate.

Dr. Nigel Carter, chief executive of the Foundation, pointed out, “We have long been drawing attention to the fact that smiling increases happiness both in yourself and those around you, so it is good to receive the backing of this scientific research … A healthy smile can improve your confidence, help you make friends and help you to succeed in your career … “

10. It makes Everyone Happy

A Smile is a curve which can straighten out a lot of things. Its so powerful that it can stop a historical war or unfroze a frozen heart. It makes everyone happy; Your smile is a messenger of your good will. Your smile brightens the lives of all who see it. To someone who has seen a dozen people frown, scowl or turn their faces away, your smile is like the sun breaking through the clouds. Especially when that someone is under pressure from his bosses, his customers, his teachers or parents or children, a smile can help him realize that all is not hopeless - that there is joy in the world.

Choosing Friends

Dear Friends,

Today I have learned a valuable lesson. We should think about our close friends. There are devils and angels between them. So we have to choose them wisely. I don't want you to suffer what I have gone through. Today I nearly Lost my guarding angel. She cared for me more the anyone. So I have decided to give you some advice on choosing friends.

And on this moment I would like ask her to forgive me. Here after I will never make her feel bad because of me. Today i have noticed the importance of her in my life.

Since humans were created, we need the close association of others. As humans, we cannot live happy or meaningful lives to ourselves. We need to be with other people. We need the love our friends have for us. Life is more pleasant when we have those who care about us and our welfare. We need to know there are those who love us no matter what may come our way or theirs. A best friend loves will you at all times.

Friends satisfy many needs like the need for someone to share our joy and happiness the need for someone to cheer us in times of sadness and the need to help us relax and recreate from the routine and pressures of life. Actually, there are an infinite number of reasons why we need friends.

What Is a Friend?

Most Dictionaries defines a friend as "a person who has a real liking for and confidence in another person". But what I believe is that Our close friends are those whom we love and are dear to us. They are those in whom we have confidence that they hold us.

Sadly, some whom we think are our friends are not good friends. For one to be a good friend he must not only be good to us but also good for us. We need to be careful in choosing only those friends that are good for us.

We must then realize it is better to have a few friends, even just one, who will be the right kind of friends than a multitude of the kind who could cause us to lose our life.

We must choose friends who will be good examples to us and others. In that light, choose friends who:

* Have good morals
* Are modest
* Abstain from drinking alcohol
* Can bridle their tongues
* Are honest
* make you happy
* respect God.

Friends are priceless. "A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. No amount of money could be enough to replace true friends. We can rejoice in their faithfulness and delight in being around them. We should thank God daily for the friends that we have and pray that the day will never come when we do not have friends.

Hope you have forgiven me my friend. Please comment if you have forgiven me. Just say anything.

Advice Story

This was an advice story sent by a friend so I have decided to share it will you all. I’m sure that she wouldn’t like me to include her name in this post.

Last night you and your best friend had a fight. You decide not to talk to her the next day. She smiles at you. You grind your teeth at her. She tells her friends nice things about you. You spread bad rumors about her. She tries to come and talk to you. But you push her aside. She thinks you are a great friend. You think she is a terrible friend. She writes nice notes to you, telling you about the best times you shared together. You write about all the bad times you can remember experiencing together. Deep down you know she's sorry. But all you have is hate.
The next day you find a note. It reads:

Dear -------------,

I tried to tell you yesterday, but you didn't let me speak, I tried to tell you good things, but you were afraid to hear them. I tried to smile at you, to take away the hate. But now it's time to tell you, even though it's a bit late. That I am dying.
I have a bad condition and it is getting worse. I'm sorry to have to tell you that I won't be able to see you today. I wrote this to you today in the hospital. My time is up. I'm sorry I should have told you sooner I'm really sorry about our argument; you are such a great friend. I promise I shall watch over you,

Lots of love

You run to the hospital to tell her you are sorry, but only her mum is left. Her hand clasped over her face. And she was crying. Down on her knees she prays, for her daughter to come back. You are too late. You wish you told her sorry sooner and got to say goodbye. All friends have their ups and downs, and sometimes you need to say sorry... Don't wait for the other person to do it first. Because you never know what could happen.
If you really love your friends and would watch down on them when you pass away
If you judge people, you have no time to love them
